Pair of Cajuns Place Third in the Shot Put on Day One of Leon Johnson Invitational

Praiyer Jones and Laila Guy both finished third for the Cajuns
NATCHITOCHES, Louisiana - The Louisiana track and field team got off to a strong start at the Leon Johnson Invitational in Natchitoches, Louisiana. The Cajuns had three top-four finishes in the shot put along with five top 10s in the long jump.
Prayer Jones got things going in the shot put, throwing 54-7.25 to take third on his third throw. Laila Guy placed third on the women's side with her throw of 44-6. Right behind her at 44-5.25 was teammate Jaydan Jackson in fourth. Taylor Walls finished 10th with a distance of 30-10.5.
Walls also competed in the long jump, taking 10th with a jump of 17-8.75. She finished behind teammate Reem Tammam who placed seventh with a jump of 18-10. Montrell Morris was the high finisher for the men in sixth place at 23-2. Just behind him was Jeremy Nelson at 23-1.75 to place seventh. Joshua Mason also jumped for the Cajuns, placing 10th with a distance of 22-1.5.
Louisiana continues the Leon Johnson Invitational tomorrow beginning at 11 a.m.
