Louisiana Looks to Continue Strong Spring at Leon Johnson Invitational

The Cajuns have recorded 34 entries into the record book this spring
NATCHITOCHES, Louisiana - The Louisiana track and field team is back at it this weekend at the Leon Johnson Invitational in Natchitoches, Louisiana.

The Cajuns continued to have a terrific outdoor season last weekend at the Crimson Tide Invitational. Louisiana put 12 new entries into the school record book, highlighted by four top-three scores.

Moseiha Bridgen moved to second in school history in the 400H at 57.77, just 0.03 seconds off of the record. Not to be outdone, Javed Jones moved to third on the men's side in the 400H with a time of 50.27. In the 800 Alexandra Johnson moved to third in program history at 2:10.26. Abbey Marie Ratcliff also moved into the school's top three in the 5,000 with a time of 17:20.19 to put herself third.

For their efforts, Bridgen and Jones were named Sun Belt Conference Athletes of the Week. Both posted the top time in the league in the 400H by more than two seconds. Marin Barras also earned Athlete of the Week honors from the league for her performance in the javelin. Her throw of 161-5 is the longest in the conference this year by nearly 10 feet and the sixth-longest in school history.

The event begins on Friday with the men's and women's shot put as well as the men's and women's long jump before continuing on Saturday.Â
