Louisiana claimed 14-4 win over Demons last week at Russo Park
LAFAYETTE – The roles are nearly the same but the venue will be different when the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Baseball team visits Northwestern State on Wednesday at Brown-Stroud Field in Natchitoches.
First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. The game will be streamed live on ESPN+ with fans able to listen to the game in the Lafayette area on KPEL-FM (96.5) and worldwide on the Varsity Network app.
Louisiana (5-6), which returns home to face in-state rival Tulane beginning on Friday, looks to end its four-game road swing on a positive note as it faces Northwestern State (4-8) for the second time in seven days. The Ragin' Cajuns dropped games to No. 9 Vanderbilt (7-4), No. 3 LSU (5-4) and an 11-inning contest against Houston (13-10) in the Astros Foundation College Classic at Minute Maid Park.
Before its trip to Houston, the Ragin' Cajuns used a nine-run first inning and claimed an eventual 14-4 win over the Demons last Wednesday at M.L. "Tigue" Moore Field at Russo Park.
Murphy Brooks (1-0, 9.00 ERA) earned the short-start victory in last week's battle with the Demons and will make his second start of the season in the midweek rematch. The right-hander fanned three batters and allowed one hit – a two-run homer by Colin Rains – in the opener.
Kyle DeBarge belted a pair of homers for the Ragin' Cajuns and added a triple in a four-hit night with Conor Higgs going 2-for-4 with an RBI. Duncan Pastore drove in a pair of runs for Louisiana.
Northwestern State wraps up a six-game stretch where it faced Sun Belt Conference teams. The Demons took two of three games last weekend against Troy, claiming 5-3 and 6-3 decisions before a 7-0 loss on Sunday.
Freshman Kevin Robinson (0-0, 0.00 ERA) will start on the mound for the Demons.
