Louisiana to face Northwestern State on Wednesday

HOUSTON – Justin Murray's RBI single in the top of the 11th inning began a five-run frame and Houston held to defeat Louisiana, 13-10, in the final game of the Astros Foundation College Classic at Minute Maid Park.
 
Diego Luzardo (1-0), one of nine pitchers used by Houston (7-4), earned the win in a 4-hour, 28-minute marathon with Tim Williamson credited with the save. Louisiana (5-6) was led by three hits and a multi-homer effort from Kyle DeBarge while Jose Torres went 3-for-5 with three RBI.
 
Murray, who was 4-for-6 with three doubles and five RBI, beat out a single up the third base line off Brendan Moody (0-1) allowing ghost runner Alex Lopez to score and break an 8-8 tie. RBI singles by Tre Jones and Cary Arbolida plated two more runs before Coby DeJesus hit a two-run single to left for a 13-8 lead.
 
DeBarge, who stole second and scored on a pair of errors in the second before hitting a solo home run the fourth, drove in ghost runner Lee Amedee with a blast to left field for Louisiana before pinch-hitter Mason Zambo singled to right.
 
Williamson, who relieved Graysen Drezek, struck out three of four Ragin' Cajuns batters he faced to earn the save.
 
Louisiana will close out its four-game roadtrip on Wednesday when it faces Northwestern State in a 6 p.m. contest at Brown-Stroud Field.
