The Ragin’ Cajuns have the longest winning streak in the Sun Belt at six
TROY, Alabama - The hottest team in the Sun Belt Conference hits the road for the first half of a four-game road trip beginning Saturday. The Louisiana men's tennis team has won six straight and heads to Troy on Saturday before taking on South Alabama on Sunday.
Vasil Dimitrov has been red-hot, winning his last six in singles, and has a team-leading eight victories on the year. He's also been strong in doubles, winning four of five with partner Leonard Tramolay. Oriol Fillat Gimenez has also picked up his game, winning his last four contests in singles play.
During the winning streak, the Cajuns have cleaned up on courts four, five, and six. They've combined to go 12-2 on them over the last six matches. Louisiana has also won five doubles points in a row and gone 8-2 on the top two courts during that span.
Troy has been terrific this season with a 15-3 record, including 9-0 at home. Two of their wins have come against common foes with Louisiana in Florida Gulf Coast and South Florida. Mario Martinez has been one of the best players in the country on court one, posting a 17-1 record and climbing to No. 87 in the country. Noah Martens and Yerau Pastor have also had strong springs with 14 wins each in singles.
South Alabama split last week to open Sun Belt Conference action, falling to Old Dominion before defeating James Madison. They've also faced a pair of common opponents with the Cajuns, dropping matches to New Mexico and Florida Atlantic. Juan Accossatto and Harold van Raemdonck lead the Jaguars with six singles wins. The duo also leads in doubles with a 3-1 record, most of any pairing for the Jaguars.
