Louisiana Hosts Southern, McNeese In Midweek Baseball

Ragin' Cajuns set to play 15 of next 18 games at home
LAFAYETTE – Coming off its first Sun Belt Conference series victory of the season, the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Baseball team opens its first, five-game week beginning on Tuesday when it plays host to Southern University at M.L. "Tigue" Moore Field at Russo Park.

Following its contest against Southern, the Ragin' Cajuns will return to action on Wednesday when they host McNeese. First pitch for both contests is scheduled for 6 p.m. Both games will be streamed live on ESPN+ with fans able to listen in the Lafayette area on KPEL-FM (96.5) and worldwide on the Varsity Network app.

Louisiana (11-8), which has won six of its last eight games, begins a stretch where it will play 15 of its next 18 games at home. The Ragin' Cajuns will play host to Old Dominion in a three-game, Sun Belt Conference series beginning on Friday before wrapping up a six-game homestand on March 26 against Grambling.

After claiming a 9-5 win last Wednesday at Louisiana Tech, the Ragin' Cajuns opened SBC play taking two of three games at Arkansas State to post a 3-1 record on their four-game swing.

Trey LaFleur (.404-3-13), Josh Alexander (.321-1-9), Kyle DeBarge (.305-8-23), Conor Higgs (.281-2-6) and Lee Amedee (.278-1-8) have been the top hitters for Louisiana.

Southern (4-11) dropped its SWAC opener to Texas Southern before the final two games of the series were rained out.

McNeese (9-8) returns to action for the first time since March 12 when it claimed a 4-3 win in 14 innings at Southern.
