CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas - The Louisiana men's tennis team heads to Corpus Christi, Texas this weekend for the H-E-B Tournament of Champions beginning Friday. The Cajuns will face Abilene Christian to open the six-team event.
This season weather and a late team change have forced a different format to the Tournament of Champions. Rather than an eight-team bracket, the Cajuns will face Abilene Christian on Friday and DePaul on Saturday in the 60th edition of the tournament hosted annually by Texas A&M - Corpus Christi.
Louisiana comes off a major win last weekend, knocking off defending Pac-12 regular season champion Utah by a score of 4-2 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Alejandro Sanchez Gonzalez has taken his game to another level, winning four straight in singles, including the clinching point against the Utes. Right behind Sanchez Gonzalez in wins is Vasil Dimitrov with three.
Abilene Christian comes into the weekend with a 6-4 record, including a win over Texas Tech. DePaul is 3-3 this season with wins over Wisconsin, Furman, and Army.
