Louisiana Welcomes Bowling Green for Second Half of MAC-SBC Challenge

The Ragin' Cajuns host their first MAC opponent in Lafayette since 1977
LAFAYETTE, Louisiana – In the final game of the inaugural MAC-SBC Challenge the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns welcome Bowling Green to the Cajundome for a Sunday afternoon contest. The Falcons will be the first MAC opponent to come to Lafayette since 1977.
Louisiana wraps up a six-game homestand against the Falcons and looks to finish it 5-1 after falling to Georgia State on Wednesday, 78-69, snapping a seven-game win streak. Kobe Julien reached the 1,000-point mark for his career with a free throw in the first half and finished the game with 28. Joe Charles recorded his 10th double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds. The Cajuns fell in the opening half of the MAC-SBC Challenge at Toledo, 87-78.
Bowling Green got back on track on Tuesday with an 87-73 win over Buffalo after losing three of four contests. They held off Arkansas State, 81-75, at home in the first half of the MAC-SBC Challenge. The Falcons have the MAC's leading scorer in Marcus Hill who comes into the weekend averaging 21.5 points per game.

• Kobe Julien became the 51st player in program history to reach 1,000 career points in a Cajun uniform on Wednesday against Georgia State. Julien leads the Sun Belt Conference in scoring at 18.5 points per game and 445 total points. In conference play, he's second in scoring at 17.8 points per game and 214 total points.
• Joe Charles is one rebound shy of averaging a double-double for the season. In the Bob Marlin era, only Shawn Long (four times) and Bryce Washington (two times) have averaged a double-double throughout a season. Since the 2010-11 season, 10 players in the Sun Belt Conference have finished a season at that mark.
• With 10 double-doubles on the year, Charles is now one of six players in the Marlin era with 10 in a single season joining Shawn Long (four times), Bryce Washington (two times), Jakeenan Gant, Jordan Brown, and Theo Akwuba. Long holds the record with 23 double-doubles during the 2015-16 season.
• Louisiana ranks second in the country in three-point percentage defense at .265. In conference action opponents are only shooting .233 from deep against the Cajuns and only twice has an opponent shot better than .250 from deep against Louisiana.
• This is the first all-time meeting between the Cajuns and the Falcons and the first match-up against Bowling Green for head coach Bob Marlin. Bowling Green is the first MAC school to visit Lafayette since Ohio on December 17, 1977, a 98-81 victory for the Cajuns.
• This contest features the leading scorer in the Sun Belt, Kobe Julien (18.5 ppg), and the leading scorer in the MAC, Marcus Hill (21.5).
