Ragin’ Cajuns set for morning matchup against NIU, tipping off at 11 a.m.
DEKALB, Ill. – Regular season play in the 2024-25 season gets underway for the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Women's Basketball team on Monday, November 4 at 11:00 a.m. in a MAC-SBC Challenge contest at Northern Illinois.
The Ragin' Cajuns and Huskies meet for the first time in program history when the two squads take the court at the NIU Convocation Center. Live coverage is available on ESPN+ and The GOAT 103.3 FM and 1420 AM.
It's the official start of the 13th season of the Garry Brodhead era for Louisiana which is coming off an 86-23 exhibition win over Centenary that was powered by 20-point double-doubles from Kamryn Jones and Erica Lafayette.
The 2024-25 season opener is part of the first round of this season's MAC-SBC Challenge, a scheduling alliance in the sports of men's and women's basketball now entering its second season.
The Ragin' Cajuns split their two MAC-SBC Challenge games last season with the visiting team winning each time. UL has won its last three season openers and 10 of the previous 12 in the Brodhead era.

Louisiana returns home on Monday night to begin preparing for its home opener that's set for Friday, November 8 vs. Loyola (La.) at the Cajundome. Tipoff is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
The contest with the Wolf Pack starts a four-game homestand for the Ragin' Cajuns that keeps the team at home until Thanksgiving.
Admission for the entire homestand – and all UL Women's Basketball games throughout the entire season – is free and open to the public.

- Louisiana Women's Basketball launches the 54th season in program history on Monday, November 4 on the road with a MAC-SBC Challenge contest at Northern Illinois.
- Monday's contest marks the start of the 13th season of the Garry Brodhead era.
- The matchup marks the first-ever contest between the Ragin' Cajuns and Huskies in program history.
- Louisiana opens the season on the road for the first time since November 2016 (at McNeese).
- Louisiana seeks a fourth consecutive season-opening victory. The Cajuns won their season opener in 10 of the previous 12 seasons under Garry Brodhead's direction.
- The Cajuns split their matchups with Kent State (home) and Central Michigan (away) in last season's MAC-SBC Challenge – the win at CMU highlighted by Tamiah Robinson's game-winning three-pointer.
- The trip to DeKalb is the only time UL leaves the state of Louisiana until the Dec. 29 SBC opener at Georgia Southern. Following Monday, the next nine games are within the state's borders (six at the Cajundome).
- The Cajuns (17-14, 10-8 SBC in 2023-24) are coming off their fifth consecutive winning season, which marks the longest stretch in program history, capped off by a run to the SBC Championship tournament semifinals.
- UL led the SBC in scoring defense – and ranked Top 60 nationally – holding foes below 60ppg the last two seasons.
- Louisiana is one of the more experienced teams in the country with a combined nine players who are either a graduate or senior.
- SBC Championship all-tournament selection Tamiah Robinson, the team leader in assists (69) last season, now takes full control of the point guard position.
- Erica Lafayette (Rutgers) and Kamryn Jones (Houston) are a pair of P5 transfers expected to have a significant impact. The duo turned in 20-point double-doubles in last week's exhibition contest.
- Louisiana was picked 5th in the SBC preseason poll and Jaylyn James (12.1 ppg in SBC play) was a preseason all-conference selection.
