Ragin’ Cajuns set to see first on-court action in two weeks
LAFAYETTE – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Women's Basketball team welcomes Nicholls to the Cajundome for a 6:00 p.m. contest on Friday, November 22, continuing the team's current homestand.
Â
Louisiana (1-1) seeks to start its first winning streak of the season as it continues a homestand that started with a 74-50 win over Loyola (La.) back on November 8. Nicholls (3-1) also rebounded from a season-opening loss and enters on a three-game win streak that started with a win at Tulane on November 7.
Â
Admission to Friday's game – and all UL Women's Basketball games throughout the entire season – is free and open to the public.
Â
The Ragin' Cajuns are hosting Biddy Basketball Night and invite teams to arrive early to participate in a high five tunnel during the pregame. Various activities will occur throughout the game and there will be an autograph signing after the game.

BOUNCE PASSES
- After a 10-day break and unexpected delay, Louisiana resumes play in its November homestand on Friday. The homestand was to resume on November 19 until unforeseen circumstances with Mobile canceled the game.
- UL opened the homestand, which runs through Thanksgiving, on November 8 with a 74-50 win over Loyola.
- Friday's contest with Nicholls closes out a two-week break from play for the Ragin' Cajuns.
- The Cajuns and Colonels meet at the Cajundome for the second straight season. Back in November 2023, Louisiana erased a 13-point deficit in the fourth quarter to force overtime and capture a 69-63 win.
- The Loyola win put UL in the win column and allowed the squad to bounce back from a heartbreaking 57-55 loss to Northern Illinois (deciding basket in final 30 seconds) in the season opener.
- Rutgers transfer Erica Lafayette starred in her official Cajundome debut, scoring a career-high 24 points.
- UL is led by a trio averaging double-digits: Lanay Wheaton (15.5), Erica Lafayette (15.0) and Tamiah Robinson (10.5).
- Two games in, the Cajuns are averaging 14.0 offensive rebounds while yielding only six per game.
- The season opener at Northern Illinois was the only game outside the state of Louisiana until the Dec. 29 SBC opener at Georgia Southern. UL is currently in a stretch where eight straight games (five at home) are in the state.
- The Cajuns (17-14, 10-8 SBC in 2023-24) are coming off their fifth consecutive winning season, which marks the longest stretch in program history, capped off by a run to the SBC Championship tournament semifinals.
- UL led the SBC in scoring defense – and ranked Top 60 nationally – holding foes below 60ppg the last two seasons.
- Louisiana has experience on its side with a combined nine players who are either a graduate or senior.
- SBC Championship all-tournament selection Tamiah Robinson, the team leader in assists (69) last season, now takes full control of the point guard position.
- Erica Lafayette (Rutgers) and Kamryn Jones (Houston) are a pair of P5 transfers expected to have a significant impact. The duo turned in 20-point double-doubles in the exhibition contest.
- Louisiana was picked 5th in the SBC preseason poll and Jaylyn James was a preseason all-conference selection.
