Russell and Chiasson Lead the Way at SBC Championships

Three Cajuns earned All-Conference honors for their efforts
FOLEY, Alabama - The Louisiana cross country team landed three runners on the All-Sun Belt Conference Team after a strong showing at the league's championships on Friday in Foley, Alabama. Isabelle Russell was on the league's second team while Ella Segura and Peyton Chiasson earned third team honors.
Russell finished 10th overall on the women's side at 17:57.61. She just beat out Segura by less than a second, who finished 11th at 17:58.54. Russell and Segura were just one of four duos from the same school to finish in the top 15. Skylar Delgado placed 26th at 18:36.77 with Chloe Crowell in 38th at 18:50.32 and Juliana Courville in 47th at 19:07.09 also scoring.
For the men, Chiasson placed 11th at 25:10.80 while Louden Boudreaux followed him in 25th at 25:51.40. Owen Tauzin took 36th at 26:31.80 followed by Reece Shelby's 27:14.40 in 45th place and Nathan Fontan in 46th at 27:17.20 to round out the scorers.
App State won both team titles in dominating fashion, scoring 30 points in the men's event and 45 in the women's. Louisiana's women took home sixth as a team at 132 points with the men finishing seventh at 163.
Individually, Arkansas State's Jacob Pyeatt won the men's title with a time of 23:52.80, over 30 seconds clear of the rest of the field. Kylee Mastin of Marshall claimed the women's conference championships with her time of 17:06.43, besting Katherine Lawson of James Madison by four seconds.
