Louisiana officially tips off the season on Monday against Kent State
LAFAYETTE – The Louisiana men's basketball team welcomes in-state foe Louisiana Christian to the Cajundome on Wednesday for a preseason exhibition game with less than a week to go before the start of the regular season. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. as part of a doubleheader with the women who open the day against Centenary.
It'll be the first look for the Ragin' Cajuns this season as they prepare for Monday night's season opener against Kent State. The Cajuns welcome the Golden Flashes to the Cajundome as part of the MAC-SBC Challenge.
Last season Louisiana went 19-14 and reached the quarterfinals of the Sun Belt Conference Championships. The Cajuns led the nation in perimeter defense, holding opposing teams to .276 shooting from beyond the arc. Twice the team set the program single game record for threes, hitting 18 against Louisiana Christian on November 15 and again against Long Beach State on November 22.
Louisiana welcomes seven newcomers to an experienced roster. Key returners include Kentrell Garnett, Michael Thomas, Kyran Ratliff, Brandon Hardy, and London Fields who all played major minutes last season. Newcomers include Division I transfers Kyndall Davis, Zeke Cook, and Christian Wright. Koron Davis and Mostapha El-Moutaouakil join the Cajuns after terrific junior college careers while Jeremiah Evans comes from the high school ranks out of Shreveport.
