SBC Road Outing Takes Cajuns To Troy

TROY, Ala. – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Volleyball team steps on the opposition's home court for the first time in over a month with a two-match Sun Belt Conference series from October 18-19 at Trojan Arena in Troy, Alabama.

Louisiana (5-10, 1-3 SBC) last played a road contest on September 17 at Southeastern Louisiana.

UL and Troy (7-9, 2-4 SBC) are slated to meet at 6:00 p.m. on Friday (Oct. 18) and 2:00 p.m. on Saturday (Oct. 19). Both matches are being televised on ESPN+.

Louisiana plays its first road matches in SBC play during a two-match series at Troy.
It's the first of back-to-back trips to the state of Alabama for the Cajuns who visit Mobile to face South Alabama the following weekend (October 24-25).
Louisiana last played on the road back on September 17 at Southeastern, the cancellation of a trip to App State extending a recent homestand to six matches.
The Ragin' Cajuns and Trojans will battle for key division wins – the determining factor for conference tournament spots – as both teams seek to gain ground on a trio of SBC West teams with four division wins.
UL's defense turned in a hallmark performance during the Southern Miss series, eclipsing 100 digs both nights and totaling 228 digs (25.3/set). The team ranks No. 2 in digs per set in SBC play (20.3/set).
Louisiana has played through 357 ties and 139 lead changes this season, lending to a deceiving record.
Now at 434 career blocks, Cami Hicks is the program's rally scoring era leader in career blocks and is the only Ragin' Cajun to reach 400 career blocks in the rally era.
Cami Hicks entered October as the SBC leader in total blocks (69) and was the league leader in blocks per set (1.35) during non-conference play.
Cailin Demps found her footing the final week of non-conference play, scoring 45 kills (3.5/set) over 13 sets. She heads to Troy with 183 kills, just nine shy of matching her personal single-season best total.
Libero Mio Yamamoto has posted nine 20-plus dig efforts this season and 19 total in the Cajuns uniform.
Freshman Jazmine Gaston has scored double-digit kills 10 times so far in her collegiate debut season, leading her to the second-most on the squad at 157 kills (2.6/set).
The Cajuns entered the season shorthanded, without the services of all-conference setter Siena DeCambra (season-ending injury) and a 300-200 kills-digs performer Shyia Richardson sidelined with injury.
Mio Yamamoto represented Louisiana on the 2024 Preseason All-Sun Belt Conference Volleyball team. Yamamoto was selected the Preseason SBC Libero of the Year; she claimed the award in 2023.

UP NEXT FOR LOUISIANA
Louisiana returns to the state of Alabama from Thursday-Friday, October 24-25 for a two-match Sun Belt Conference series against South Alabama at Jaguar Gym in Mobile.

First serve between the Ragin' Cajuns and Jaguars is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. both nights. The matches are being broadcast on ESPN+ with live stats available at CajunStats.com.

The USA series completes play in the month of October and ends a four-match road trip for the Ragin' Cajuns who return to E.K. Long on November 1-2 to face Arkansas State.
