Freshmen Ana Martinez Vaquero and Rocio Navarro each won three matches
AUBURN, Alabama – The Louisiana women's tennis team picked up 11 victories at the ITA Southern Regional Championships in Auburn, Alabama. Leading the way were Rocio Navarro and Ana Martinez Vaquero with three each.
Playing in the main draw, Angelique Berrat won her opening match before falling in the round of 32 by the slimmest of margins, 7-6 (7-5), 7-5. Louisiana cleaned up in the consolation matches. Navarro picked up her three wins over Louisiana Tech, UAB, and North Alabama, with two wins in straight sets. Martinez Vaquero picked up wins over LSU and Alabama in straight sets before beating Anoek Pruijmboom of North Alabama in three sets.
The duo of Jenaila Prulla and Kamea Medora reached the doubles round of 32, winning their first match over ULM, 8-1. Prulla and Medora, as well as the pairing of Berrat and Martinez Vaquero, both saw their main draw runs end against doubles teams from host school Auburn. Prulla also had a pair of victories while Medora also earned a singles win.
