Ragin’ Cajuns Set to Compete at the Houston Invitational

The meet marks the halfway point of the indoor season
HOUSTON, Texas - The Louisiana track and field team hits the halfway point of the indoor season this weekend at the Houston Invitational running from Friday to Saturday. After this weekend the Cajuns will have three more meets before heading to Birmingham, Alabama for the Sun Belt Conference Championships.
Trejun Jones earned a win in the 200-meter at last weekend's Samford Invitational with a time of 21.58 seconds. Jones wasn't the only Cajun on the podium in Birmingham. The women's 4x400-meter relay team, Ta'La Spates, Kenzie Touchet, Quincy Simon, and Moseiha Bridgen, finished second at 3:48.90.
The Cajuns also had a trio of third-place finishes on the day. Freshman Lauren Roberts took third in the pole vault, clearing 12 feet 6.25 inches. Taylor Davis jumped 5 feet 5.25 inches in the high jump for her third-place finish. Kayla Meyers got on the podium in the 60-meter hurdlers with a time of 8.75 seconds, narrowly beating out teammate Bridgen's time of 8.77 seconds.
It'll be a busy weekend in Houston with 21 teams scheduled to compete including Louisiana. Scheduled to appear are Abilene Christian, Hill College, Houston, Houston Christian, Incarnate Word, Lamar, Little Rock, Louisiana Tech, North Texas, Rice, Stephen F. Austin, Sam Houston, Southern Mississippi, South Plains College, Texas A&M- Corpus Christi, Texas State, Texas Southern, UTRGV, UT-Arlington, and UTSA.
