Ribero Earns First Round Win at ITA All-American

The event features 256 of the top singles players in collegiate tennis
TULSA, OK - William Ribero has been on a tear so far this fall and Saturday, September 30 was no different at the ITA All-American in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The sophomore earned a first round win at one of the most highly competitive events in collegiate tennis.

Ribero handily dispatched Stefan Simeunovic of Penn State in straight sets, 6-2, 6-3, to open the day. In the following round, he took Sam Reeve of Memphis to the brink but fell 7-5, 4-6, 6-1 in three sets.

He wasn't the only Cajun in action on Saturday. Vasil Dimitrov fell to Raul Garcia of Kennesaw State, 6-2, 6-3, in the opening round. After missing last spring with an injury Oriol Fillat Gimenez was back in action for the Cajuns. Gimenez fell in an incredibly close contest to Alex Chang of Cal, 7-6 (3), 7-6 (3). Also playing for the first time since an injury in the spring was Alejandro Sanchez Gonzalez. The senior fell 6-3, 6-1 to Vignesh Gogineni of Yale in the opening round.

The Cajuns take on day two of the ITA All-American with the start of the consolation bracket in the morning.
