Ragin' Cajuns Set for Lake Charles Invitational

9/21/2023 2:29:00 PM | Men's Tennis

LAKE CHARLES, La. - The Louisiana men's tennis team won't have far to travel this weekend for the Lake Charles Invitational at the Lake Charles Racquet Club. The Cajuns host a field that also includes Sun Belt Conference rivals South Alabama and Southern Miss as well as Rice and UTSA.

At last weekend's Sugar Cane Invitational, the Cajuns won nine matches against a combination of Lamar, Nicholls, and Tyler Junior College. William Ribero had a strong weekend winning four matches while Vasil Dimitrov and freshman Mason Landreth earned three wins. Grant Landreth also picked up a win over the weekend in doubles action.

It'll be familiar faces competing this weekend in Lake Charles with the Cajuns, including two conference foes. Last season the Cajuns beat South Alabama at home but fell on the road to Southern Miss. The team also faced UTSA in the H-E-B Tournament of Champions Finals but fell to the Roadrunners. The Cajuns last faced Rice in 2021, defeating the Owls 4-3 in Houston, Texas.
