Bienvenu Punches Ticket to Austin on Day Two of East Regional

Bienvenu placed fifth to advance for a chance at a national championship
JACKSONVILLE, FL. – Maria Bienvenu will represent Louisiana in the national championships after placing fifth in the javelin throw at the NCAA East Regional in Jacksonville, Florida on Thursday, May 25. The sophomore's throw of 51.81 meters clinched one of the 12 spots up for grabs at the championships in Austin, Texas.
Jacqueline Pokuaah did her best to join Bienvenu in the long jump, placing 16th at 6.08 meters. Backing up Bienvenu in the javelin was Emma Bacilla in 33rd place (43.91 meters) and Marin Barras in 45th place (40.48 meters).
In track events, Kennedy London led the way with a 27th-place showing in the 100-meter hurdles (13.39). Moseiha Bridgen took home 38th in 1:00.57 in the 400-meter hurdles. Sophie Daigle closed the night in the 10k with a time of 36:10.32 in place 44th.
The Cajuns are slated to be represented in four events tomorrow starting with the men's 4x100-meter relay before Jeremy Nelson goes in the triple jump, Javed Jones in the 400-meter hurdles, and the men's 4x400-meter relay team closes the night.
