PEACHTREE CITY, GA – The Louisiana women's tennis faces a familiar foe on Wednesday, April 26, in the opening round of the Sun Belt Conference Championships at the Peachtree City Tennis Center in Peachtree City, Georgia. They'll take on South Alabama, who the Cajuns just faced last Saturday at Cajun Courts. The Ragin' Cajuns finished the regular season with a 3-8 record to finish 10th in the league.
Angelique Berrat and Cristina Tchanichev led the team this spring in singles wins with 10 each. Berrat has done the majority of her damage on court three where she's won eight matches, including two in a row. Tchanichev is 9-5 on court four, the most wins on any court for any Cajun.
Berrat has also excelled in doubles with partner Carla Urchoeguia, winning nine matches on court one. Urchoeguia has performed well in singles as well, winning seven matches while playing the majority of the season on court one.
Last Saturday the Jags took the match 4-0 in Lafayette, finishing as the seventh seed in the league after going 7-4 in conference. They are led by Luminita Tutunaru's 15 singles wins while Chems Doha Zeghlouli has 14.
