LAFAYETTE – Just one match remains in the regular season for the Louisiana women's tennis team, who will host South Alabama on Saturday, April 22 at Cajun Courts.
The Cajuns look to get back on track after dropping their last two matches before next week's Sun Belt Conference Championships. Entering the final weekend of play the Cajuns sit ninth in the league while Saturday's opponent, South Alabama, is eighth.
Angelique Berrat and Cristina Tchanichev each earned their 10th win of the season last weekend against Texas State. Beret has done the majority of her work on court three where she's earned eight of her victories while Tchanichev has done the heavy lifting on court four with nine wins.
Berrat and teammate Carla Urchoeguia have played well in doubles for the Cajuns and emerged as one of the best duos in the SBC. They're 9-6 on the season and 5-3 in conference and have the fifth best winning percentage among court one pairings in the league.
The Jags have a 15-5 record but are just 5-4 in conference. They finished the season 10-0 at home, but struggle on the road with a 3-5 record this spring. Luminita Tutunaru leads the team in singles wins with 14 while Elysia Pool and Tereza Dejnozkova each have 12.
