The Ragin’ Cajuns look to lock down a top-three seed in next weekend’s SBC playoffs
LAFAYETTE - Just two matches remain in the regular season for the Louisiana men's tennis team who heads to Georgia for the last weekend. The Ragin' Cajuns start the weekend at Georgia State in Atlanta, Georgia before heading to Statesboro to face Georgia Southern. Â
ÂThe Cajuns enter the week sitting in third place in the Sun Belt Conference, a game behind South Alabama and Old Dominion in the loss column. Louisiana holds the head-to-head win over South Alabama, Old Dominion holds it over the Cajuns while South Alabama holds it over Old Dominion.
ÂKarlo Kajin continues to lead the team in wins with 12 in singles and nine in doubles. Kalin Postea is second in singles with eight victories. The doubles duo of Alejo Ferrer Chueca and Kacper Dworak has been on fire of late, winning three matches in a row.
ÂGeorgia State is 5-15 on the year but they are winners of two of their last three. Prior to that the Panthers had lost six straight matches. Diogo Morais leads the team in singles wins with nine, but Edward Tymes is right behind him with eight after winning three in a row. Roberts Grinvalds and Gabriele Datei have been their best doubles team, going 4-4 this season.
ÂGeorgia Southern started SBC play strong but after two straight losses, are 3-3 in conference play. They're 14-6 on the year and 8-0 in Statesboro this spring. Pierre Mouesca has been great for them with 13 wins, including an 11-2 record on court three. Judson Blair, with a 12-3 record on court five, is second on the team in wins. Â
