The team will honor their seniors during Sunday’s match against Old Dominion
LAFAYETTE - After a pair of thrilling wins last weekend at home, the Louisiana men's tennis team has a chance to put themselves in the driver's seat in the Sun Belt Conference. The Ragin' Cajuns are the only undefeated team left in the league at 3-0 in conference play.
Louisiana will host James Madison on Saturday at 11 a.m. before welcoming Old Dominion at 10 a.m. on Sunday. On Sunday the team will honor their seniors Karlo Kajin and Kacper Dworak in their final home match of the year.
The Cajuns broke through last weekend, winning a pair of 4-3 matches over Troy and South Alabama. The win over South Alabama was the team's first over the Jaguars since 2015 and the victory over Troy went all the way down to a third set tiebreaker in the final match.
Vasil Dimitrov secured the clinching point in Sunday's win over the Jags and earned himself the SBC Player of the Week award. He went 2-0 in singles and his one doubles win was his eighth of the season. Calin Postea and William Ribero also had terrific weeks winning both of their singles matches.
James Madison currently is 9-7 but just 1-3 in SBC play, losing to Troy, South Alabama and Georgia Southern. Holden Koons has led the way on court one, going 12-4 to lead the team in wins. Splitting time on courts two and three is Julian Lozano who has added 10 wins this year.
Old Dominion enters the week 3-1 in the SBC with wins over Troy, Georgia State and Georgia Southern. Cosme Rolland De Ravel has a team-high 10 singles wins. They'd done a lot of damage in doubles where the Monarchs are yet to lose in conference.
