Cajuns Head to Toledo for First Game of MAC-SBC Challenge

The Cajuns look to win their first road game of the season
TOLEDO, Ohio – It's a heavy-weight battle in the first half of the MAC-SBC Challenge for the Louisiana men's basketball team as they travel to Toledo to take on the Rockets in Savage Arena on Saturday, November 11.
Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m. CT with coverage live on ESPN+. Fans can also listen live to the voice of the Ragin' Cajuns, Jay Walker, on KPEL 96.5 FM locally or worldwide via The Varsity Network app.
This is the second week in a row the Cajuns will square off with a defending regular season conference champion. In Monday night's opener, the Cajuns overcame a slow start to hold off Youngstown State 72-62. Themus Fulks took charge in the second half, scoring 16 of his game-high 20 points and adding 7 assists to the effort. Joe Charles recorded his first double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds while Kobe Julien scored 16 points in his first start since 2022.
Story Lines
• Louisiana and Toledo combined to win 53 games last season, the most among the first round of match-ups in the MAC-SBC Challenge. James Madison and Kent State is second with 50.
• The Cajuns will open the season against two teams from the state of Ohio. This is the fourth time since 1967 that the Cajuns have opened the season against two opponents from the same state outside the state of Louisiana. The last time was in 2017-18 against Millsaps College and Ole Miss. The three other times were 1989-90, Ole Miss and Jackson State, 1971-72 Eastern Kentucky and Western Kentucky, and 1967-68 North Texas and Baylor.
• Themus Fulks scored 20 points along with 7 assists in the season opener. The Cajuns have had a 20-point scorer in four of the last five season openers.

• This is the second meeting ever between the Cajuns and the Rockets. The Rockets got the best of the Cajuns, 77-64, on November 20, 2018, in the Gulf Coast Showcase in Estero, Florida. The Cajuns return to Estero this season for the first time since that season. JaKeenan Gant led the Cajuns with 16 points and 9 rebounds in the effort.
