The Cajuns look to continue their strong fall on Homecoming Weekend
LAFAYETTE - The Louisiana men's tennis team is back in Acadiana for the Cajuns Classic beginning Friday, October 20 from Oakbourne Country Club and City Club at River Ranch.
The Cajuns had a strong showing at the ITA Regionals last weekend in Auburn, Alabama. In doubles, the tandem of Vasil Dimitrov and Mason Landreth reached the Round of 16 before falling 8-6 to the No. 8 pairing in the country and event runner-up, Nikola Slavic and Lukas Engelhardt.
Alejandro Sanchez Gonzalez won three matches en route to an appearance in the main draw while William Ribero won a pair of matches in qualifying. Dimitrov and Oriol Fillat Gimenez also earned singles victories on the weekend.
Ribero leads the team this fall with 13 singles wins after winning eight last spring in his freshman campaign. Behind him is Landreth, a freshman, with six wins this fall.
Joining Louisiana at the Cajuns Classic are South Alabama, Tulane, LSU, Xavier (LA), and Southern Miss.
