Ragin' Cajuns Finish Fifth Overall at Everett Buick GMC Classic

Trio of Cajuns finish in top-15 in fourth event of the fall
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Three players finished in the top 15 as Eli Ortego, Jake Marler and Malan Potgieter all finished at under-par and the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Golf team notched another top-5 finish after completing play on Tuesday at the Everett Buick GMC Classic at Chenal Country Club.

Louisiana finished fifth overall in the 15-team event after posting a team score of 4-under-284 in the final round to finish at 8-under-856 for the event – one stroke off its season 54-hole low set at last month's Argent Financial Classic.

Ortego and Marler – the leader after Monday's 36 holes – each finished at 6-under 210 to finish in a tie for seventh overall in the event. Ortego carded a 2-under 70 in the final round for Louisiana while Marler posted a 2-over-par 74.

Potgieter recorded his team-best fourth round in the 60's this season after shooting a 3-under 69 to finish tied for 13th at 3-under-213. Burke Alford recorded a 1-under-71 for Louisiana in the final round to finish at 10-over-226 while Dylan Keating posted a 3-over-75 to finish at 13-over 229.

Matt Weber, competing as an individual, recorded an 82 in the final round and finished at 11-over-227.

LSU claimed the team title after posting a team score of 13-under-273 in the final round to finish at 842. Troy (851) was second in the event followed by host Little Rock (852), Michigan (853) and Louisiana.

Mark Stockdale of Central Arkansas claimed medalist honors in the event with a 54-hole score of 12-under-204.

Louisiana will wrap up the fall portion of its 2023-24 schedule with a trip to the Ka'anapali Classic Collegiate on Oct. 26-28 in Lahaina, Maui. The 20-team field will play on the Royal Ka'anapali Course at the Ka'anapali Golf Club with action beginning at 1:30 p.m. CT daily.
