Louisiana Opens Women's Tennis Schedule Sunday at Mississippi State

Ragin' Cajuns to host 11 matches during the spring at Cajun Courts
STARKVILLE, Miss. – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Women's Tennis team officially opens its 2023 Spring Schedule on Sunday when it faces SEC opponent Mississippi State.

Louisiana, under eighth-year head coach Stephanie Vallejos, opens the season with a pair of road matches beginning with MSU (12-15 in 2022) before facing Rice on Jan. 29.

Returning to lead Louisiana on the court are juniors Lucie Raquin, Angel Santiago and Momoko Yoshimura along with sophomore Carla Urchoeguia, who led the team with a 9-4 record in singles play last season.

Yoshimura posted an 8-5 record for the Ragin' Cajuns last season with Raquin finishing with seven wins, including three at No. 1 singles.
Four freshmen join the roster with Laure-Line Monnoyer and Angélique Berrat each competing in the fall with Stephanie Atelius and Cristine Tchanichev joining the team for the spring semester.

The Ragin' Cajuns will open their 11-match home schedule on Feb. 10 against Southern University before facing McNeese (Feb. 11), Southeastern Louisiana (Feb. 12), Nicholls (Feb. 17) and Houston (Feb. 19) as part of a five-match homestand.

Louisiana will play host to six Sun Belt Conference matches at Cajun Courts, beginning on March 10 against league newcomer Old Dominion. The Ragin' Cajuns will also host James Madison (March 12), Appalachian State (March 31), Marshall (April 2), Texas State (April 15) and South Alabama (April 22) in league matches with the SBC Championships scheduled for April 27-30 in Peachtree City, Ga.
