LAFAYETTE – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Baseball team hits the road for a pair of midweek games beginning on Tuesday when it visits in-state foe Louisiana Tech at J.C. Love Field at Pat Patterson Park.
First pitch for Tuesday's contest is scheduled for 6 p.m.
Following Tuesday's game with Louisiana Tech (7-5), Louisiana will venture to the other end of the state when it visits New Orleans (8-2) in a 6:30 p.m. contest at Maestri Field.
Both games can be heard in the Lafayette area on ESPN Lafayette (103.3 FM / 1420 AM) with the UNO game streamed live on ESPN+.
Louisiana (6-6) returns to play after dropping two of three games to future Sun Belt Conference rival Southern Miss. The Ragin' Cajuns opened the series with a 5-3 win in last Friday's opener before USM claimed the final two games (5-0 and 4-2).
Carson Roccaforte (.342-2-16) leads Louisiana in hitting with Connor Kimple (.289-3-12), Julian Brock (.267-0-1) and Will Veillon (.259-0-1) following. The Ragin' Cajuns have stolen 29 bases as a team with Roccaforte (7) and Tyler Robertson (6) leading the way.
Peyton Havard (1-1, 4.00 ERA) is slated to start for Louisiana in Tuesday's contest with Louisiana Tech sending southpaw Cade Gibson (1-1, 4.22 ERA) to the mound.
Cole McDonnell leads Louisiana Tech at the plate with a .390 average with a pair of home runs and 15 RBI. Taylor Young (.333-2-9), Philip Matullia (.273-3-10) and Steele Netterville (.268-3-12) are the top hitters for the Bulldogs, who have recorded 16 home runs in the first 12 games of the season.
The game at Louisiana Tech is the first of two scheduled contests against the Bulldogs in Ruston with Louisiana set to return on April 5.
New Orleans, which returns to play after a three-game sweep last weekend at ULM, is led offensively by Anthony Herron, Jr., with a .371 average. Amani Larry (.351-2-8) and Jeissy De la Cruz (.286-1-6) are next in hitting for the Privateers, who will host Louisiana for the first time since a 17-3 Ragin' Cajuns victory on May 17, 2016.
