No. 37 Louisiana hosts Coastal Carolina on March 5 in Sun Belt opener
LAFAYETTE - For the first time since Jan. 29 the No. 37-ranked Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Men's Tennis team competes at Cajun Courts when the squad hosts Coastal Carolina in a 1 p.m. match on Saturday, March 5.
The Ragin' Cajuns (11-1) and Chanticleers (5-5) are both opening Sun Belt Conference play during the Saturday matinee.
Louisiana sports a 2-0 mark on its home court in the spring 2022 dual match season, claiming a sweep of Tyler JC and Xavier (La.) back on Jan. 28-29. The CCU match ends a stretch of 34Â days between home events for the Ragin' Cajuns.
The time away from home was extremely productive for Louisiana with quality wins over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, Rice, Texas Tech, ETSU and UTSA highlighting the success on the February-long stretch of road matches that stretched out the team's current winning streak to 10 matches. Along the way the Ragin' Cajuns captured the title at the prestigious H-E-B Tournament of Champions and last weekend closed out the series of road events with a commanding 6-1 win at Southern Miss on Feb. 26.
The impressive start under the guidance of first-year head coach Luc Godin is the program's best start in the 2000s era. The 10-match winning streak is the longest win streak since the 2014 won the exact same amount.Â
Louisiana and Coastal Carolina last met in the 2019 season with the Ragin' Cajuns claiming a 4-3 decision on March 31, 2019 in Conway, S.C.
