Triumphant Homecoming Extends Louisiana's Win Streak to 11 Matches

No. 37-ranked Ragin' Cajuns best Coastal Carolina in first home match since Jan. 29
LAFAYETTE - After an exciting finish to claim the doubles point the No. 37-ranked Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns men's tennis went on to claim four of the six singles games to capture a 5-2 win over Coastal Carolina on Saturday, March 5 at Cajun Courts in the Sun Belt Conference opener for both teams.
The win made Louisiana (12-1, 1-0 SBC) victorious in the return to its home court for the first time since Jan. 29. The victory also extended the team's winning streak to 11 matches - a streak which started back on Jan. 28 at Cajun Courts.
The highlight of the Saturday matinee was the doubles tandem of Calin Postea and Kacper Dworak storming back from a 6-2 deficit in the tiebreaker at No. 3 doubles to claim an 8-6 decision which clinched the doubles point and an early lead for the Ragin' Cajuns.
Postea kept the momentum going for Louisiana in singles play when he finished first, claiming a 6-2, 6-2 win over Daiki Tanabe to ensure Louisiana wouldn't fall behind.
After the Chanticleers (5-6, 0-1 SBC) got on the board with a win at No. 1 singles it was Oriol Fillat Gimenez (6-3, 6-4) and Vasil Dimitrov (6-4, 6-4) picking up straight set wins to increase the advantage to 4-1 and secure the final outcome.
Fillat Gimenz, who improved to 11-1 in singles action, extended his personal winning streak to 10 games. Dimitrov won his fifth consecutive matchup and picked up his 10th win of the season to become the second Ragin' Cajun to reach double digits in singles victories.
