Oklahoma Claims Win Over Louisiana in Top 40 Men's Tennis Matchup

14-match win streak for Louisiana snapped in Fort Worth
FORT WORTH, Texas - A matchup of Top 40 nationally ranked teams ended in No. 37 Oklahoma's favor as the Sooners posted a 6-1 win over the No. 38-ranked Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Men's Tennis team on Sunday, March 20 at TCU's Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center and Bartzen Varsity Courts.
Louisiana (15-2) had its 14-match win streak snapped with the defeat. The impressive streak, which began back on Jan. 28, lasted nearly two months and led the squad to the program's best start in the 2000s era that still holds 17 matches into the season.
The Sooners (12-4) claimed the doubles point and used a trio of straight set wins in singles play to reach the clinching point before the entire match was completed.
Louisiana's No. 1 doubles tandem of Karlo Kajin and Alejandro Sanchez Gonzalez were locked in a 5-5 battle with No. 69-ranked duo of Alex Martinez and Welsh Hotard just before OU clinched the doubles point.
Sanchez Gonzalez collected the Ragin' Cajuns singles win with a straight sets, 7-6 (7-3), 7-5, triumph over Martinez, the nation's No. 68-rated individual. Kajin pushed No. 45 Mason Beiler to a third set at No. 1 singles before being outlasted 10-6 in the tiebreaking third frame.
