No. 47 Louisiana Bounces Back, Maintains Top Spot in Sun Belt Men's Tennis Standings

Ragin' Cajuns set up showdown for sole possession of conference lead with Georgia State on Sunday
LAFAYETTE - The No. 47-ranked Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Men's tennis team led the entire afternoon, clinching the match victory by the fifth point, in collecting a 4-3 decision over Georgia Southern in a Sun Belt Conference match on Friday, March 25 at Cajun Courts.
The win keeps Louisiana (16-2, 3-0 Sun Belt) atop the SBC standings with the visiting team for the Sunday, March 27 match at Cajun Courts, Georgia State. The Ragin' Cajuns and Panthers (11-6, 3-0 Sun Belt) are scheduled to meet at 11:00 a.m. with sole possession of first place in the league up for grabs.
The path to victory over the Eagles (7-7, 1-2 Sun Belt), which returned the Ragin' Cajuns to the win column after their season-best, 14-match win streak was snapped last Sunday by then-No. 37 Oklahoma, was a familiar recipe - capturing the doubles point and opening a 2-0 match lead for the sixth time in the past seven outings.
After picking up their sixth straight win at No. 1 doubles, improving to 11-4 on the season, Karlo Kajin and Alejandro Sanchez Gonzalez clinched the doubles point for Louisiana. Vasil Dimitrov made quick work of Laurent Julia Calac by a 6-2, 6-1 count to finish first in singles and open the 2-0 match lead.
Despite Georgia Southern getting on the board following a win at No. 1 singles, the Ragin' Cajuns maintained their separation when reigning Sun Belt Player of the Week Sanchez Gonzalez avoided extended play on Court 2 by finishing off a 7-5 win in the second set to finish third in singles play. It was Sanchez Gonzalez's fourth straight win at No. 2 singles, improving his season mark to 12-4.
Kacper Dworak cruised to a 6-1 win in the second set to finish off his straight sets sweep of Valentin Dun on Court 5, sealing Louisiana's triumph. It capped off a perfect day for Dworak who opened with a win at No. 3 doubles alongside partner Calin Postea.
In addition to keeping its perfect conference mark intact, Louisiana also remained unbeaten on its home court in the spring 2022 dual match season (now 5-0).
