Louisiana Moves Up Two Spots To Wrap Up Lake Las Vegas Intercollegiate

Ragin' Cajuns prepare to host 37th annual Louisiana Classics at Oakbourne
HENDERSON, Nev. – Eli Ortego, Peter Hinnant and Matt Weber each posted rounds below par and the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Golf team moved up two slots in the final results as the Lake Las Vegas Intercollegiate concluded on Wednesday at Reflection Bay Golf Club.
Louisiana, which posted a final day team score of 1-under-par 287, finished in 11th place at 880 for the 54-hole event and three strokes behind Big 10 member Michigan.
Second-day leader West Virginia posted a final round score of 17-under 271 to finish at 28-under 836 and 11 strokes better than second-place Little Rock (847) with UAB (851), Oregon State (851) and Utah (855) rounding out the top five.
Ortego earned a 13th place finish in the field after posting a final round score of 2-under 70 and finishing at 4-under-212 overall. The freshman posted three birdies in the final round and finished tied for seventh overall in the field with 14.
Hinnant, who tied for a tournament-best two eagles in the event, recorded a 1-under 71 in the final round to finish at 221 overall with Weber posting an identical score in the final round to finish at 221.
Hunter Hammett recorded a 3-over-par 75 in the final round to finish at 229 overall for Louisiana while Justin Caldwell recorded a 4-over 76 to finish at 232.
Mark Goetz of West Virginia recorded a 3-under 69 in the final round to finish at 15-under 201 overall and claim medalist honors by two strokes ahead of Little Rock's Anton Albers.
Louisiana will return to action when it hosts the 37th annual Louisiana Classics on March 14-15 at Oakbourne Country Club. The 16-team field will feature nine teams ranked in the GolfStat Top-100 with five schools (No. 17 Ole Miss, No. 23 Texas A&M, No. 34 LSU, No. 44 Little Rock, No. 48 Mississippi State) ranked in the top 50.
