No. 38 Louisiana Bests UT Arlington, Extends Win Streak

Ragin' Cajuns maintain edge after collecting doubles point to land 14th straight victory
ARLINGTON, Texas - No. 38 Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Men's Tennis came away victorious at the start and finish of singles play leading the squad to a 4-3 win over UT Arlington in a Sun Belt Conference match at the UTA Tennis Center.
The Ragin' Cajuns (15-1, 2-0 Sun Belt) claimed the doubles point and used a win from Calin Postea at No. 4 singles to stay one step ahead of the Mavericks (11-7, 0-1 Sun Belt), going on to capture their 14th consecutive victory - since Jan. 28 - and continue the program's best start in the 2000s era.
Louisiana needed to finish on only two courts to claim doubles and gain a quick 1-0 edge on UTA - the ultimate difference maker in the contest. It started with Karlo Kajin and Alejandro Sanchez Gonzalez on Court 1 and the point was secured by Oriol Fillat Gimenez and Vasil Dimitrov on Court 2, both by 6-3 counts.
Postea landed a commanding 6-3, 6-0 win over 11-game winner Maks Lukman to keep the Ragin' Cajuns on the right track. Later it was Fillat Gimenz with a straight sets sweep (6-3, 6-3) at No. 3 singles posting a win for a critical 3-1 edge, a decision the proved vital as the Mavericks picked up the next two wins.
With the match on the line, Sanchez Gonzalez outlasted reigning Sun Belt Player of the Week Miguel Cabrera 7-6, 3-6, 6-3 to wrap up the match in favor of Louisiana.
Fillat Gimenez picked up his 13th straight win, improving to 14-1 on the season, and Postea (now 12-2) extended his personal win streak to six games. With his match-clinching win, Sanchez Gonzalez joined the double-digit wins club and now stands at 10-4.
