Talley Named To Preseason All-Sun Belt Baseball Team

NEW ORLEANS – Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns southpaw Brandon Talley was named to the Preseason All-Sun Belt Conference Baseball team, which was released by the league office on Thursday.

Talley, who finished tied for third in the league in saves (8) and second in appearances (27), was tabbed as the relief pitcher on the 14-member team which was voted on by the league's head coaches.

The native of Princeton, Texas, posted a 1-1 record on the mound with a team-low 1.59 earned run average in 34.0 innings and finished fourth overall on the team with 45 strikeouts. Talley was named to the NCWBA Stopper of the Year Midseason Watch List during the 2021 season while helping Louisiana to a 32-23 overall record and the SBC West Division title.

Louisiana, which was picked to finish in a tie for third-place in the Sun Belt Conference Preseason Poll, officially opens its season on Feb. 18-20 with a three-game series against No. 14-ranked UC Irvine at M.L. "Tigue" Moore Field at Russo Park.
