Louisiana Basketball Returns Home to Host Loyola of New Orleans

LAFAYETTE – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Men's Basketball team returns home on Tuesday when it faces defending NAIA National Champion Loyola of New Orleans at the Cajundome.
 
Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. The game will be streamed live on ESPN+ with Dan McDonald (pxp) and Eric Mouton (color) providing the commentary. Fans in the Lafayette area can listen to call of the game by Jay Walker on KPEL-FM (96.5) and worldwide on the Varsity Network. Live stats will be provided by CajunStats.com.
 
The game is being promoted as S.T.E.M Night and Young Ragin' Cajuns Club Night with many educational opportunities for students including stem exhibits and activities. Kids can get free admission with the purchase of a discounted adult ticket by presenting a flyer at the Cajundome Box Office.
 
Coming off its first loss of the 2022-23 season in a 76-64 loss at Drake, Louisiana (5-1) slashed a 20-point deficit in the second half to 68-64 with 1:26 remaining before the unbeaten Bulldogs got a bucket and six free throws down the stretch to pull out the win.
 
Themus Fulks led Louisiana with a career-best 16 points while Greg Williams, Jr., added 12. The Ragin' Cajuns rebounded from a 28-percent performance from the field in the first half to shoot 17-for-27 (63 percent) in the second half.
 
Jordan Brown, who was held to five points against Drake, leads Louisiana in scoring at 17.7 points per game followed by Williams (12.7) and Terence Lewis II (12.3). Lewis paces the Ragin' Cajuns with 8.8 rebounds per contest while Fulks leads the team with 4.5 assists per contest.
 
Loyola (7-1), which will play the game as an exhibition, dropped its first contest of the Donald Reyes-era and had a 28-game win streak snapped in a 92-65 loss to Florida Central. The Wolf Pack, who average 82.4 points per game in eight contests on the season, have also dropped exhibition contests to Southeastern Louisiana and Southern Miss.
