Louisiana, Louisiana Tech renew hardwood rivalry on Thursday

LAFAYETTE – Coming off a weekend trip to the Carolinas where it claimed the second-annual Asheville Championship, the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Men's Basketball team returns home to the Cajundome when it plays host to in-state rival Louisiana Tech.
 
Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. The game can be heard in the Lafayette area on KPEL-FM 96.5 and worldwide on the Varsity Network. The game will be streamed live on ESPN+.
 
Louisiana Athletics is encouraging fans to donate canned food items for families in need for Thanksgiving by dropping off donations in the lobby of the Cajundome. Fans can also take pictures with the Asheville Championship Kayak, which was presented to the Ragin' Cajuns.
 
University employees can purchase discounted tickets to the game beginning at $10 (100 level corner sections) or center court seats for $15. Off to its second 3-0 start in as many season and third time overall since 1995-96, Louisiana (3-0) resumes its longest hardwood rivalry with its annual meeting against its in-state rival. The teams meet for the 10th time since the series was renewed in 2013 with the Ragin' Cajuns holding a 5-4 lead, including a come-from-behind 61-56 win in the previous meeting in the Cajundome.
 
Louisiana Tech (1-1) opened its season with a 78-61 win over Mississippi College in its season opener on Nov. 7 before dropping a 64-55 decision at Texas Tech on Monday.

 • Louisiana renews its oldest rivalry on the hardwood when it hosts in-state foe Louisiana Tech at the Cajundome.
• The former conference rivals (SIAA, Louisiana Intercollegiate Conference, Gulf States, American South, Southland, Sun Belt) meet for the 134th time in series history and 10th straight year after the series was renewed in 2013.
• Louisiana is 5-4 against the Bulldogs since the series was resumed and 52-49 overall since the 1957-58 season - the first under legendary coach Beryl Shipley.
• Louisiana's 3-0 record equals its start from last season and the third time overall since 1995-96.
