Louisiana Set To Compete At SBC Championships

Championship moved up a day due to forecasted weather
FOLEY, Ala. – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Men's and Women's Cross Country teams return to action on Friday when they compete in the Sun Belt Conference Championships at the Graham Creek Nature Preserve.

The women's 5K race will begin at 4:02 p.m. CT and the men's 8K race will start at 5 p.m. CT. Both championships will air live on ESPN+. Live meet results will be available through Flash Results.

Admission to the 2022 Sun Belt Cross Country Championships is free and open to the public.

The women's 5K field will include the 13 Sun Belt Conference programs: App State, Arkansas State, Coastal Carolina, Georgia Southern, Georgia State, James Madison, Louisiana, ULM, Marshall, South Alabama, Southern Miss, Texas State and Troy.

The men's 8K field will include the nine Sun Belt Conference programs that sponsor the sport: App State, Arkansas State, Coastal Carolina, Louisiana, ULM, Marshall, South Alabama, Texas State and Troy.

Louisiana will compete in the 38th Sun Belt Women's Cross Country Championship contested since the event began in 1985, while this year will mark the 45th Sun Belt Men's Cross Country Championship, with the first coming in 1978.

Sophie Daigle will lead the Ragin' Cajuns Women's Team after posting four top-20 finishes on the season, including a pair of individual titles. She will joined in the Women's 5K by Meredith Hebert, Ava Lemoine, Rosalie Michot, Haley Salsbury, Brooke Spalitta, Caroline Spalitta and Kamryn Williams.

Baptiste Depril-Dupre, who has a pair of top-10 performances this season, will pace the Louisiana Men's squad in the event with Samuel Avants, Peyton Chaisson, Ty Frazier, Mason Haley, Jacob Marcinkus, John Walker McDonald, Rashid Reese and Braden Scalisi scheduled to compete.
