Daigle's Top-20 Finish Leads Louisiana at Arturo Barrios Invitational

Louisiana makes final tuneup prior to SBC Championships
COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Sophie Daigle earned a top-20 finish and the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Cross Country teams made its final tuneup prior this month's Sun Belt Conference Championships, competing at Texas A&M's Arturo Barrios Invitational at the Dale Watts Course.

Louisiana, which will compete at the SBC Championships on Oct. 29 in Foley, Ala., placed 32nd overall in the men's 8K event which featured 40 teams and over 350 runners. The Ragin' Cajuns, led by Daigle's 16-place finish, placed 25th overall of 38 teams in the women's 6K race.

Daigle covered the course in 20:59.3 to finish as the top SBC runner in the event, which included runners from Arkansas State, ULM and Texas State. Haley Salsbury posted a time of 22:48.9 for the Ragin' Cajuns with Brooke Spalitta (23:28.6), Rosalie Michot (24:13.3), Caroline Spalitta (24:31.8), Meredith Hebert (25:56.4) and Ava Lemoine (27:10.8) crossing the line.

Baptiste Depril-Dupre paced Louisiana in the men's 8K race as he covered the course in 25:34.8. John Walker McDonald was the next Ragin' Cajuns runner to cross the finish line in 26:07.0 with Braden Scalisi (26:23.9), Ty Frazier (26:33.4), Peyton Chaisson (26:46.7), Reece Shelby (27:14.3), Mason Haley (27:17.4), Samuel Avants (27:28.3), Caedmon Kyles (28:27.3) and Rashid Reese (28:29.4) following.

Louisiana will compete in the SBC Championships on Oct. 29 at the Graham Creek Nature Preserve. The women's 5K race will begin at 10 a.m. with the men's 8K event set for 11 am. The meet will be streamed live on ESPN+.
