Men's Tennis Set for Spring 2022 Home Debut

Louisiana scheduled for back-to-back days of play, starting on Friday, Jan. 28
LAFAYETTE - The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Men's Tennis team is primed for its home-opening weekend from Friday-Saturday, Jan. 28-29 at Cajun Courts located within the Louisiana Athletics Complex footprint.
The Ragin' Cajuns (1-1) are scheduled to play at 3:00 p.m. both days. Admission is free and open to the general public.Â
Louisiana meets Tyler Junior College on Friday (Jan. 28), then faces Xavier (La.) on Saturday (Jan. 29).
The matches mark the official home debut with first-year head coach Luc Godin. It's an opportunity for fans to catch a glimpse of the team before a series of road matches in February keeps the team away from Cajun Courts until March.

It's the first outside competition for the Ragin' Cajuns in over two weeks. The squad was scheduled to open its home slate from Friday-Saturday, Jan. 21-22 with a tournament involving Tyler JC and Xavier (La.), but cold temperatures associated with a strong cold front canceled the event.
Prior to the weather-forced delay, Louisiana had made its dual match debut with Godin the weekend of Jan. 14-16 with a pair of matches in the state of Texas against Abilene Christian (in Waco) and at UTSA. The Ragin' Cajuns posted a 6-1 win over ACU in the season opener by capturing four of five singles victories in straight sets, then dropped a decision to UTSA by an identical score after the Roadrunners claimed all six singles matchups.
Last season's singles victories leader Karlo Kajin won his season opener, newcomers Vasil Dimitrov and Colin Postea made their collegiate debut and the doubles tandem of Oriol Fillat Gimenez and Dimitrov opened the season with a 2-0 mark.
