Cajuns Roll into Postseason Following Fourth Straight Win

Louisiana downs Southern Miss as Balan and Landreth deliver again
LAFAYETTE – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Men's Tennis team continued its strong late-season form on Saturday, April 11, defeating Southern Miss, 4-1, in the regular season finale at Cajun Courts.
With the win, Louisiana (10-6) extended its winning streak to a season-high four matches ahead of next week's Sun Belt Conference Championship tournament in Rome, Georgia.
The Ragin' Cajuns also capped off an impressive spring at Cajun Courts, finishing undefeated (4-0). UL lost only two points across its four home matches, outscoring the opposition by a combined 21-2 margin.
Louisiana (10-6) set the tone early by securing the doubles point on the first two courts to finish, netting a pair of 6-3 victories. Samuel Kyjaci and Gianluca Filoramo were the first to wrap up play, then the top-flight tandem of Mason Landreth and Leonard Tramolay followed with their team-leading 11th win of the season on Court 1 to lock up the early 1-0 lead.
Carrying momentum into singles play, the Ragin' Cajuns quickly built control with decisive performances across the lineup.
Darius Balan turned in one of the most dominant outings of the day, rolling to a 6-2, 6-0 win over Olle Noltorp on Court 5 increasing the match advantage to 2-0. The victory marked Balan's 10th singles win of the season and extended his personal winning streak to four matches.
Nikola Kolyachev followed with a convincing 6-3, 6-0 triumph on Court 6 to put Louisiana firmly in command.
After Southern Miss (7-11) picked up its lone point on Court 3, Landreth sealed the team victory with a 6-1, 6-4 win over Jose Murariu on Court 1. The result marked Landreth's third consecutive victory on the top court and his second straight against a Sun Belt opponent.
With momentum building, Louisiana now turns its focus to postseason play at the conference championships. Play runs from Thursday-Sunday, April 16-19 at the Rome (Ga.) Tennis Center, with the Ragin' Cajuns first opponent and playing date to be announced following the release of the ITA rankings on Monday evening.
