Ragin' Cajuns open season on the road for second-straight season
LAFAYETTE – Louisiana Women's Tennis will get its 2022 season underway on Saturday, Jan. 22, when it travels to Starkville, Miss., to face Mississippi State. The match is slated to begin at 3 p.m.
Saturday's contest is one of just two non-conference tilts on the schedule, the other coming on Saturday, Feb. 12, at McNeese.
Louisiana will looking to return Lucie Raquin to lead the charge this year. Raquin went 6-4 on the year in singles play, posting a 3-1 mark in the No. 4 spot. AK Harvey, Angel Santiago and Lana Brezanin are also returning from last year's team.
There are plenty of new faces on the roster that will make an immediate impact. Tanisha Kashyap and Carla Urchoeguia joined Raquin at the ITA Southern Regional and had strong showings.
The two teams have not met since Feb. 11, 2017, when Louisiana fell to Mississippi State, 7-0, in Starkville. The Ragin' Cajuns will be looking to win its first set over the Bulldogs since winning two on Feb. 27, 2010.
