Louisiana aims for an undefeated stay in the Lone Star state
SAN ANTONIO, Texas - The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Men's Tennis team completes its Spring 2022 season-opening trip to Texas on Sunday, Jan. 16 in San Antonio meeting UTSAÂ in the first true road outing of the young season.
The Ragin' Cajuns (1-0) and Roadrunners (0-1) are scheduled to begin play at 1 p.m. from the UTSA Tennis Center.

Louisiana seeks to finish the opening weekend of its dual match season with an undefeated mark. The Ragin' Cajuns were victorious in their debut with first-year head coach Luc Godin on Friday (Jan. 14) in Waco, Texas, posting a commanding 6-1 win over Abilene Christian at Baylor's Hawkins Indoor Tennis Center.
Four of the five singles victories picked up over ACU came in straight sets and the match result was decided after Vasil Dimitrov's win at No. 6 singles opened a 4-0 edge over the Wildcats. Last season's singles victories leader Karlo Kajin (9-7 in 2021) won his season opener after dominating the tiebreaker of No. 1 singles by a 10-3 count.
UTSA, 13-8 last season including a 7-1 mark at home, opened its season on Friday as well with a stiff challenge at No. 3 Texas. The Roadrunners were dealt a 6-1 defeat by the nationally ranked Longhorns, but did come away with a win on Court 1 as Joao Ceolin defeated No. 20 Micah Braswell 3-6, 7-5, 10-5.
It's the third straight season that Louisiana and UTSA meet on the court. The Roadrunners have claimed the last two meetings, posting a 5-2 win in February 2020 and a 4-0 win in March 2021. The Ragin' Cajuns last win in the series came in February 2018 (4-3 in San Antonio).
