Louisiana's bid for Opening Weekend sweep falls short
SAN ANTONIO, Texas - UTSA posted a clean sweep of singles competition to bounce back and defeat the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Men's Tennis team 6-1 on Sunday afternoon at the UTSA Tennis Center in San Antonio, Texas.
Louisiana (1-1) got off to a strong start by claiming the doubles point for the second straight match to begin the Spring 2022 dual season. The tandems of Karlo Kajin/Alejo Ferrer Chueca and Orio Fillat Gimenez/Vasil Dimitrov were victorious is securing the doubles point for the Ragin' Cajuns. Fillat Gimenez and Dimitrov improved to 2-0 in doubles play on the young season.
UTSA (1-1) claimed all six singles contests to recover and take the match result from Louisiana. The Ragin' Cajuns made an attempt to flip the final match score in their favor, as Alejandro Sanchez Gonzalez, Fillat Gimenez and Kacper Dworak each pushed their opponent to a decisive third set.
The Roadrunners extended their win streak in the series to three matches and prevented the Ragin' Cajuns from claiming a road trip sweep on Opening Weekend.
