Louisiana Track and Field Set to Open Season at Ted Nelson Invitational

LAFAYETTE – Louisiana Track and Field will begin the 2022 indoor season 2 p.m. Saturday at the Ted Nelson Invitation in College Station, Texas.
Louisiana will be joined by 10 competing teams in addition to meet host Texas A&M.
The Ragin' Cajuns begin head coach Lon Badeaux's 11th season at the helm following a third-place finish by the women team and a fifth-place result by the men's squad in the Sun Belt Indoor Championships a season ago.
On the women's side, Kiana Foster begins her second-year campaign after claiming second place in both the 100 and 200-meter dash at the conference finals. Foster also earned a silver medal as the anchor on Louisiana 4x100 meter relay team.
Entering the new season, Nathan Fergusson and Brock Appiah headline the men's roster. Appiah sat atop the conference standings in the 100-meter dash a year ago with a time of 10.50 and anchored the Ragin' Cajuns gold-medal-winning 4x100 meter relay team.
Fergusson claimed the top spot in 400-meter hurdles at the conference championships, posting a time of 51.60 and earning Louisiana's first title in the event since Stacy Fuller in 2008.
Louisiana will compete in four meets during the indoor season prior to the 2022 SBC Championships on Feb. 21 and Feb. 22 and the NCAA Indoor Championships on March 11 and 12. Both meets will be held in Birmingham, Ala.
