Louisiana Cross Country Headed to Baton Rouge for LSU Invitational

LAFAYETTE – Louisiana Cross Country will travel to Baton Rouge on Friday to compete in the LSU Cross Country Invitational at the University Club.

The men's 6k race is slated for 8:30 a.m., with the women's 5k race beginning immediately after at 9:15 a.m.

In addition to the host, The Ragin' Cajuns will be joined at the invitational by Alcorn State, Dillard, Loyola-New Orleans, New Orleans, William Carey.

Last week, Louisiana opened the 2021 campaign in Houston, Texas at the Rice Invitational. The Ragin' Cajun women took 6th place in the 4k race while the men earned a 9th place finish in the 6k.

Each in their collegiate debut, Freshmen Abbey Marie Ratcliff and Louden Boudreaux topped the leaderboard for Louisiana, finishing in 35th and 38th place, respectively.

On the men's side, Peyton Chiasson claimed 46th place and Jacob Marcinkus earned a 55th place result.

For the women's team, Juniors Rosalie Michot and Lauren Cantrelle came in 43rd and 45th, respectively, with sophomore Haley Salsbury finishing closely behind in 49th.

The LSU Invitational is Louisiana's second of three meets during the 2021 season before the Sun Belt Conference Championships on Oct. 29 in Mobile, Ala.
