Ratcliff, Boudreaux lead Louisiana Cross Country at Rice Invitational

HOUSTON, Texas. – Freshmen Abbey Marie Ratcliff and Louden Boudreaux paced Louisiana Cross Country at the Rice Invitational in Houston, Texas.

In their season-opening meet, the Ragin' Cajuns earned 6th place in the women's 4k race and submitted a 9th place result in the men's 6k.

Competing in their first collegiate race, Marie Ratcliff (15:09.70) and Boudreaux (20:33.90) finished in 35th and 38th place, respectively.

Meet host Rice raced to a first-place finish in the 6k followed by Texas A&M Corpus Christie, Sam Houston, Houston Baptist and Houston.

On the women's side, the Islanders paced the field with Rice, Houston, Sam Houston and Stephen F. Austin rounding out the top five.

At 46th, freshmen Peyton Chiasson (20:53.20) was the second Ragin' Cajun to cross the finish line in his collegiate debut, while fellow first-year newcomers Jacob Marcinkus (21:15.90) and Chapin Stewart(21:54.10) came in shortly after in 55th and 64th, respectively.

Junior Rosalie Michot a top returning runner on the women's side for Louisiana, complete the 4k course in 15:36.90 to finish 43rd. Fellow junior Lauren Cantrelle came in 45th with a time of 15:52.00 with sophomore Haley Salsbury claiming 49th with a time of 15:58.90.

In her first colligate appearance, freshman Mararia Bravo-Garcia turned in a 71st place result for the Vermilion and While with a time of 17:52.10.
Louisiana will be back in action on Friday when it travels to Baton Rouge to compete in the LSU Invitational on Sept. 17.
