Ragin' Cajuns battle top-ranked LSU, in-state opponents in seven-team event
BATON ROUGE – Chandler Mixon recorded three top-five finishes, including an outdoor personal-best in the men's pole vault, while freshman Osayi Omorodion posted a pair of second-place finishes to lead the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Track and Field team on Saturday at the Battle on the Bayou at LSU's Bernie Moore Track Stadium.

Emoni Coleman claimed the women's 800-meters for Louisiana with Rylan Theyard and the freshmen tandem of Tyren Hannah and Haley Salsbury each posting a pair of top-five performances.

Mixon set PR's in both the men's javelin (182-0) and 110-meter hurdles (14.53) where finished fourth in both events. The junior multi-event athlete claimed the men's pole vault for Louisiana after clearing an outdoor personal-best 15-11 ¾.

Omorodion posted the fifth-best time in the women's 100-meter hurdles in Ragin' Cajuns history after finishing second overall in 13.92 seconds. The freshman led three Louisiana hurdlers to top-five finishes as Reagann Leleux was third (13.93) and Juliette Smith fifth (14.41).

Omorodion led a quartet of Ragin' Cajuns in the women's long jump as she finished second overall at 19-4 ¼. Taylor Walls (18-4 ½) was third for the Ragin' Cajuns, with Ariel Young (18-4 ½) fourth and Smith (18-1) seventh.

Smith added a second-place performance in the women's javelin for Louisiana after posting a personal-best mark of 128-2.

Yves Cherubin (14.24) and Tahj Whitfield (14.41) finished second and third overall in the men's 110-meter hurdles for Louisiana with Terroll Jolla finishing third overall in the 100-meter dash (10.79).

Nathan Fergusson finishing second in the 400-meter hurdles (51.47) and Zachary Sampson third (55.63). Tyrell Hargrove led a trio of Ragin' Cajuns to top-six finishes in the 800-meters after posting a time of 1:53.79 with Caedmon Kyles (1:55.36) finishing fifth and Solomon Brent (1:55.39) sixth.

Coleman produced Louisiana's second first-place finish of the day after crossing the finish line in 2:15.16 to claim the women's 800-meters. Salsbury finished fourth in the event for the Ragin' Cajuns (2:21.68) and was fifth overall in the 1,500-meters (4:53.19).

In the women's 100-meter dash, Kiana Foster placed fifth overall in a star-studded field as she clocked a time of 11.73. Freshman Ta'La Spates clocked the fourth-fastest time by a Sun Belt Conference runner in the women's 200-meters this season (24.28) to finish seventh for the Ragin' Cajuns.

Hannah finished third in both the men's discus throw (142-2) and shot put (47-7) for Louisiana with Theyard finishing third in the triple jump (48-4) and fifth in the long jump (22-7). Freshman Taylor Davis finished second overall in the women's high jump (5-7 ¾) – tying the fifth-best mark in Ragin' Cajuns history – with Young finishing fifth in the triple jump (37-5 ¾), Ashley McMillin fifth in the discus (141-4) and Nya Terrell fifth in the shot put (37-3).

Louisiana will return to action beginning Thursday when it travels to Tuscaloosa, Ala., to compete at Alabama's Crimson Tide Invitational scheduled for April 8-10.
