Three Ragin' Cajuns In Top 20 at SBC Golf Championships

Louisiana 13 strokes out of fourth place heading into final round

EL DORADO, Ark. – Peter Hinnant and Hudson Dubinski each posted rounds of 3-over-par 75 while Bjorn Gudjonsson carded a 5-over 77 to finish in the top-20 after 36 holes and lead the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Golf team during the second day of the 2021 Sun Belt Conference Men's Golf Championships at Mystic Creek Golf Club.
 
Louisiana posted a team score of 21-over-309 in the second round to remain in eighth place in the team standings and 12 strokes behind ULM and Appalachian State for fourth-place on the overall leaderboard. The Ragin' Cajuns, with a team score of 621 through 36 holes, were nine shots behind Coastal Carolina for seventh place and 10 strokes behind sixth-place Arkansas State.
 
The final round of stroke play will begin at 8:30 a.m., with live coverage available on ESPN+ and live results available at GolfStat.com and RaginCajuns.com. The top four teams in the final stroke play standings will advance to Wednesday's Match Play Round with the overall winner receiving the league's automatic berth to the NCAA Championships.
 
Hinnant, currently tied for 14th place at 8-over 152, opened the day with a birdie at No. 1 and made the turn with an even-par 36 before carding three bogeys on the back nine. The junior saved par at No. 18 with a 10-foot putt after his second shot went to the left of the green.
 
Dubinski recorded three bogeys through his first five holes before rallying to make the turn at 1-over 37 for Louisiana before a double-bogey on the par-3, No. 12 and a bogey at No. 13. The sophomore would save par at No. 16 with a chip-in from the bunker and close out his round with a birdie at No. 18 to finish tied for 19th at 153.
 
Gudjonsson, also tied for 19th place at 153, made the turn at 3-over 39 for Louisiana and birdied No. 12 before eventually saving par at 18 after his second shot found the bunker in front of the green.
 
Hunter Hammett carded an 82 for the Ragin' Cajuns while Charlie Flynn posted a score of 84.
 
Little Rock posted a team-low score of 13-over 301 to finish at 599 after two rounds and move into the lead. First-day leader Georgia Southern was two strokes behind at 601 with UT Arlington (607), App State (608) and ULM (608) rounding out the top five.
 
Logan Pate of Little Rock posted a 2-over 74 to move into the individual lead at 1-over 145 after 36 holes with first-day leader Mickell Schmitt of ULM recording a 13-over 85 after opening on Monday with a 6-under 66.
 
Louisiana, which will tee off from No. 1 beginning at 9:15 a.m., will be paired in the final round with Coastal Carolina and Texas State for the second consecutive day.
