Louisiana Track & Field Set For NSU Leon Johnson Invitational

Louisiana individuals looking to improve on national rankings
LAFAYETTE – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Track and Field team returns to action on Saturday as it travels to Natchitoches to compete in the NSU Leon Johnson Invitational at the Walter P. Ledet Track Complex.

The meet will start with field events at 10 a.m. with running events scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. Live results will be available at RaginCajuns.com.

Louisiana, making its first trip to Natchitoches in four years, will join host Northwestern State in the nine-team field which also includes ULM, Louisiana Tech, Southern, Alcorn State, Bossier Parish CC, Jacksonville College and Arkansas-Rich Mountain.Â

Three athletes who are ranked in the top-50 nationally in their respective events – Brooklynne Wilson (women's discus), Yves Cherubin (men's 110-meter hurdles) and Nathan Fergusson (men's 400-meter hurdles) – are scheduled to compete for Louisiana.

Wilson, ranked No. 36 nationally in the discus, will compete in a pair of events where she is second in school history in the discus (175-11) and third in the hammer throw (165-10). Cherubin, ranked No. 27 nationally in the 110-meter hurdles, will look to build on his personal-best time of 13.82 seconds – the second-fastest time in school history – while Fergusson, ranked 36th nationally in the 400-meter hurdles (51.47), looks to become the third Ragin' Cajun to break the 50-second barrier in the event.
