LAFAYETTE – Louisiana Baseball will welcome McNeese State for a midweek game on Wednesday night at M.L. 'Tigue' Moore Field at Russo Park. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m.
Louisiana (20-15, 7-5 SBC) is coming off a tough weekend in Mobile, Ala., when it lost three-straight games to the Jaguars.
Like the Ragin' Cajuns, McNeese State (18-18, 12-11 SLC) is also coming off a sweep, losing to Southland foe Sam Houston State this past weekend.

Golden Spikes Award Midseason Watch List
Spencer Arrighetti was named to the USA Baseball 2021 Golden Spikes Award Midseason Watch List on Wednesday afternoon of last week. Arrighetti is one of 45 of the nation's top amateur players from the high school and college ranks to be selected for the prestigious honor. He is also just the fifth Ragin' Cajun to appear on the list since it was instituted in 2013, joining Caleb Adams (2014), Seth Harrison (2014), Blake Trahan (2015) and Gunner Leger (2017).
Cookeing it up
Connor Cooke was very solid in his start against South Alabama last weekend, tossing 6.0 innings, allowing two earned runs and fanning eight batters. In his last two starts, Cooke has only allowed five hits and struck out 20 batters.
Ben Fitzgerald vs. The Cowboys
Ben Fitzgerald likes to play McNeese State. In just two against the Cowboys in his career, Fitzgerald is 5-for-9 (.555) with a home run, triple, four RBI and two runs.
Benny Bombs
Ben Fitzgerald smashed his 10th home run of the season against South Alabama on Sunday. With his 10th bomb, Fitzgerald is the third Ragin' Cajun in the last four years to reach double-digit home runs, joining Handsome Monica and Orynn Veillon. The Mason City, Iowa, native also ranks in the top seven in the Sun Belt Conference in batting average, on-base and slugging.

Austin Perrin will toe the rubber for the Ragin' Cajuns on Wednesday night. The lefty earned his first start of the season against McNeese State and tossed 5.0 innings of one-hit baseball. Perrin also fanned seven Cowboys in the contest, the second-most of his career.

McNeese State enters the game with a .500 record (18-18) and sits at 12-11 in Southland Conference play. The Cowboys got swept by Sam Houston State this past weekend, but sit in the top half of the league's standings.
